Other Yorkshire Studs - I
Ivy Lea Farm
Scampston,
Malton
Owner: Carol Tinkler & Parents
Type: Private
Notes: Ivy Lea is the family farm of Carol
Tinkler's parents. Carol previously operated from Musley
Bank Stud, when
is was owned by her husband, former
leading National Hunt jockey and dual-purpose trainer Colin
Tinkler Jnr, who is the son of Colin Tinkler and the elder
brother of Malton trainer Nigel Tinkler. Tinkler
stopped training in the late eighties to concentrate on the stud
(which he'd founded in 1981), where pin-hooking weanlings for
re-sale as yearlings was a major part of the operation. In June
2003 Musley Bank (which stood on 38 acres and has main house,
gallops, indoor school, turnout paddocks and numerous boxes) was
sold to Tinkler's former riding colleague Richard Fahey who
moved his training operation there towards the end of July. Colin
Tinkler moved to train at Mijas in Spain in 2003, whilst his wife
Carol has moved the stud operation back to the family farm at
Scampston on the other side of Malton, from where she also trains
point-to-pointers. At the start of 2004 Colin Tinkler briefly
re-commenced his British training career in the South of England.
